Wow, so I have been very remiss in making these updates. Tomorrow is my 11th treatment in this cycle. It is also the last one for this cycle. I do not know if this is my last treatment, or just the last for now. I expect to have a PET scan in about a week […]
Category: My recovery
It has been a long time.
Sorry for the long gap between posts. Mainly it has been pretty uneventful. Today I started my fifth treatment for this cycle. I had a PET scan last week and went over the results today with my oncologist. The results show decreased activity in the cancer on my liver, no new cancer anywhere else, but […]
Doing OK
So the first treatment of phase 2 seems to be going OK. I am getting to experience a side effect that I was spared last time due to the Ileostomy, but as they say, this too shall pass (and quickly). Wearing the pump again last week was as fun as I remember, and Friday could […]
Round 2 … Fight!
Today began my maintenance round of chemotherapy to kill off the cancer that remains in my liver. Before starting this round, I and a group of friends descended upon Las Vegas last weekend to celebrate my birthday an my last drinking for the immediate future. It was a blast. The maintenance version of my chemo […]
Back in the saddle
Cleared for action! Yesterday (Friday) I had a follow-up with my surgeon and he cleared me for all activities. Today I got out on the bike and rode 14.5 miles of the San Luis Rey Trail. I’m feeling great and the ride was a blast. Cheers
Good (not great) news
Last week I had a PETCT scan done on Tuesday, and then on Friday met with my Oncologist to review the findings. The good news is that with the exception of the clusters of cancer that we knew about on the liver, the scan showed no indication of any other cancer in my torso (the […]
Staple free and returning to work
As of my Friday meeting with the surgeon I am free of staples and sutures. He inspected the wound site as well and declared it all healing well. I return to work on Oct. 15 (tomorrow as I write this).
So much healing
I continue to improve daily. Yesterday (Wednesday) I saw Dr. Shultzel (the surgeon) for a follow up. He removed half of the (every other) staples. I inspected the wound site from the stoma and was pleased by the rate of healing. He then washed the sites with a Silver Nitrate solution to prevent infection. Between […]
Better every day
I have been home for a week now and I feel better every day. I met with the Oncologist on Friday and she was pleased with the results of the surgery and our current plan is to have a PET scan at the end of October to assess my situation. The optimistic hope is that […]
There is no place like home
Yesterday they sprung me. Monday night, Dr. Schultzel stopped by between surgeries to check on my progress and indicated that it was likely that I would be heading home on Tuesday. Early Tuesday morning he was back and announced that I would be sprung on that day, and by 11 AM I was in a […]
