Almost done (for now)

Wow, so I have been very remiss in making these updates.

Tomorrow is my 11th treatment in this cycle. It is also the last one for this cycle.

I do not  know if this is my last treatment, or just the last for now.  I expect to have a PET scan in about a week to see how the cancer has reacted to this cycle, and will discuss with my Oncologist what comes next.  In any event, I need a break.  Although this last cycle was less intense, it simultaneously occurred while I have been trying to establish my regular work schedule.  The result of that conflict was poor eating habits and a lack of exercise.  It was hard trying to get into a good exercise routine while feeling like crap 5 out of every 14 days, and suffering occasional bouts of the runs in between.  If I can get a break for a couple of months, I will not have that excuse and my friends have been very good at pestering me to get my butt on the bike.

During this whole endeavor, I have also been dealing with that surge of middle age, the hemorrhoid. Not just one, that is for amateurs. I have been dealing with 3.  Luckily and not known to me before there is a rather simple out patient process (banding) to eliminate them.  I am 2 down now and 1 to go.  I can say with certainty that it is worth it, and that the process is far from comfortable.  (Hearing words like massive used by your doctor when discussing something like this is not a comforting thing.) That may seem like an over-share, but if you have read this last year, that is pretty much my style. In all of theses cases I just hope that if someone stumbles across this blog and the information helps them, it is all worth it. In any event, there is no reason to hide it and knowing that the situation is so easily treated may help someone.  ( statistic show a very high percentage of Americans over 50 have this same condition).

Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope to post again after my PET scan results are in and I know what is going to happen next.

Cheers.
