Good (not great) news

Last week I had a PETCT scan done on Tuesday, and then on Friday met with my  Oncologist to review the findings.

The good news is that with the exception of the clusters of cancer that we knew about on the liver, the scan showed no indication of any other cancer in my torso (the area covered by the scan). What kept it from being great news is that the clusters on the liver, although reduced in size are still active.

I am very happy with this result as it matched up with my expectations. Our plan is to start a maintenance regimen of chemotherapy once my healing up from the surgery is done (currently planned to start on December 5, 2018) and the treatment will consist of just the 5-FU drug that I was taking along with my other cocktail previously.  The 5-FU is the one that I get through the portable infuser over a 46 hour period. Since I will not be on the Oxaliplatin or the Vectibix, I should hopefully avoid some of the worst side effects (The cold sensitivity and peripheral neuropathy from the Oxaliplatin, and the rash from the Vectibix). Since I have never just been on the 5-FU, I cannot really guess which things I will experience, but I would suspect the loss of taste and probably the thinning of the hair. I am hopeful that this will be much less of a toll on my body than the much more aggressive treatment was this past year and that I will be able to resume more physical exercise (mainly cycling) and keep that up.

Cheers
