Today I got my treatment. The new drug was able to be infused along with the Leucavorin so no additional time was needed. In fact the new pharmacist is actually better than the last and I finished at noon instead of at 2. It is too soon to tell what new side effects this drug […]

Round 6 – Series 3: Scheduled
So I have my appointment scheduled for round 6 next Wednesday. This will be adding the new drug, so another 2 hours to my Wednesday treatment. Since I am not sure if they will also give me the benedryl I will get a ride to and from just in case.
Round 6 – Series 3: Wait, not yet or you can’t always get what you want.
Last week I had a PET scan to see how things are progressing. All of the previous scans had shown improvement, this time was different. The PET scan showed some increased activity in the known clusters and some growth as well. The cancer has not spread from the Liver, but the current treatment of 5-FU […]
Round 5 – Series 3 in progress
I am in the middle of round 5 for series 3 now. I have been able to determine some better information about the pump situation, but still lack enough knowledge to understand why it runs fast on me. When I first moved to the new bladder style pump, the nurse at the time had passed […]
Round 4 – Series 3 done
Wow, so that was a rough one. There are still issues with calibrating the flow of the new infusion device. The old device was literally clockwork, so it delivered exactly 2.5ml/hr and finished exactly 46 hours after being activated. The new device (started late in series 2) is a pressurized ball of the drug, with […]
Round 4 – Series 3
As I write this I am sitting in the chair and getting my drugs infused. Isabella is doing better, but she just hates her special diet food. I have been mixing it with food she typically does like to get her to eat it, but she is too cunning for that and does her best […]
Series 3, round 2
Yesterday kicked off the second treatment (round?) of the third series. The terminology here is mushy because no two people I have talked with were consistent in their use of and understanding of when to use what words. For now I will be looking at this like a Television program, but since I watch lots […]
Phase 3 underway
Three weeks ago I had a new port implanted and a week and a half ago I started the third round of chemo. This time is pretty much the same as round 2. The only chemo drug I am on is the 5-FU. There has been some shake up in the staff where I get […]
Enter Phase 3
Today I had a meeting with the oncologist and we discussed the next phase of my treatment. An early review of the PET scan showed 3 clusters each about 1cm2 remaining on the liver, with no activity elsewhere. That opened up the possibility of Radio Frequency Ablation to cook the remaining cancer and move on […]
Mann Tracht, Un Gott Lacht
So no sooner than I post about my plans, they change. On Wednesday I reported for treatment and upon looking at the site of my port, the Nurse Practitioner declared that it could not be used. The site had become compromised and the port was actually working its way out of me. The set up […]
