Series 3 – Round 9 Complete

The last few weeks were a bit of a whirlwind. I spent 2 weeks in Hawaii, first for a conference (work) and then for vacation. The conference went well and I made some valuable connections. The vacation part was excellent and I really got to feel normal for a little bit. Being in a place where nobody knows you can be very liberating. It affords you the opportunity to be who you want to be, unfettered by the expectations of anyone else.

During my vacation I made an effort to interact with other people. I have learned that vacationing solo can lead to feeling isolated. When you make the effort to meet and interact with others it does not feel that way. For any of you introverts out there, the key here is that the most interesting topic to most folks is themselves. Just asking some open ended questions and sitting quietly can afford you the chance to learn many things.

I returned from Hawaii feeling relaxed and with a little bit of a tan. I then proceeded on Monday to get my 9th treatment of this series. I had it moved to Monday to avoid missing the entire month since with Thanksgiving on Thursday, the center was not going to be open those last 2 days of the week, making any other day impossible. I used the old style pump again and it finished exactly on time and did not leave me feeling like I had been run over by a truck.

I spent Thanksgiving with the family that adopted me as a stray many years ago. (Or as my brother calls them, my real family since I spend most of my holidays out here with them.)  It was great to see everyone and catch up.

My next treatment will be on Monday December 9th, which will set me up to have the last one of the year on New Years Eve. That is not a big deal to me since I am off the sauce while in treatment and had no particular plans to go out.

Cheers
