I am now at a week after the surgery and still trying to get the digestive system working right. This is apparently a common problem with open gastric surgery but is nonetheless frustrating to all.
We have an NG (Nasal Gastro) installed and have gone through different iterations of having me pumped and having it clamped. Today we just started a 1 hour on and 8 hour off cycle to see if i am keeping up with bile production and incidental fluids while i remain on an IV based diet.

Even though it is frustrating that your digestive system is not fully functioning yet, you are on the road to a full recovery! The process for healing is happening and that is a good thing.
BTW, I am shining the whiskey bottle for you to have it on your first day back to work. 🙂
