This morning I woke up and did my mostly normal preparations for my Wednesday treatment session. With Mother, sister and niece in tow, we headed to the facility. Unfortunately, my blood work showed a low platelets count (not dangerously low, but out of spec low) so my doctor decided to delay my 9th treatment a week. Mom and I did get to see the doctor and ask here questions about where we are heading and how the plan is proceeding. My next step is to schedule and get the updated CT scans hopefully before next Wednesday’s appointment and that will tell us how things are progressing. We discussed if extending the treatments was something to consider if the cancer is responding well but it is an outside possibility since the body can only handle so much of these drugs as I am seeing with this platelets count. Mom seemed happy with the discussion and should hopefully go bak to Pittsburgh with more confidence in my treatment. The delay in the treatment was a disappointment, but mainly it is just shifting a week (provided the bloodworm next week shows improvement) and I am happy that the folks giving me the treatments are monitoring things and making the prudent decisions.
Cheers.
