Today (Wednesday) was the first day of treatment 8. This completes the first 2/3 of my planned course of chemotherapy. My blood work (CBC) looked good again, with a continued increase in my white blood cell count now placing it in the normal range. My Red blood cell count is still a bit low indicating that the anemia is still an issue, but my energy level has been good, so not too concerned at the moment.
I have continued to use self-discipline to force myself to eat even when not hungry. I did let my diet slip over the last two weeks including some less than nutricious choices and ended up gaining a couple of pounds. Now that I have shown that I can manage my weight despite having little appetite and not useful taste buds, I will start trying to eat a healthier menu and get into a 2 pounds per 2 weeks (1 pound per week) weight loss target. This should keep the oncology folks form worrying and help set me up better for the eventual surgery. Reducing my belly fat more can only help with the surgery and obviously my overall life after this is past. My overall goal is to drop about 30 more pounds by the end of the year which will put me at 200 lbs, which I know from personal experience is where I look my best. Too much below that and I look like I crawled out of a concentration camp.
Cheers
