So I reached my doctor to see what could be prescribed to help with the rash. I was expecting some form of topical cream, but instead she prescribed antibiotics. Since I have no reassurance that a cortisone based cream would be safe I purchased a tube of some moisturizing thing. Of course I should have looked at the active ingredients first since it turns out that I basically paid $10 for a medium sized tube of petroleum Jelly.
The good news is that after applying the petroleum jelly ointment, I do feel a little bit less sensitive. Of course a tub of the same active ingredient would have cost me about $2, so I feel a little bit stupid at the moment.
The antibiotics should help keep me from gettin an infection through the open lesions in the rash. Since tetracycline (a different antibiotic) worked well on my acne back when I was 19, maybe the antibiotics will help in general. I will see what next Wednesday reveals when I can see either the doctor or NP in person. Maybe then (if the rash has not decreased) they will understand the scope of the problem better.
